C R Taylor (Wholesale) Ltd v Hepworths Ltd [1977] 2 All ER 784

Facts: Real estate agents (appellant) acted both for the vendors and the purchasers (respondent) on the sale of property. A fire destroyed the disused billiard hall. The real estate agents were liable due to negligence in the execution of their professional responsibilities for not informing the respondents of ongoing water damage/leakage. The purchasers sought the cost of rebuilding the billiard hall, despite the fact that the site had been retained merely as an investment and there was no intention to use it as a billiard hall again or let it out for some other purpose.
