Weissensteiner v The Queen (1993) 178 CLR 217

Facts: Defendant (D) was convicted of murdering a couple. The couple planned to sail from Cairns across the Pacific and D was hired for labour. Months after they had set off, D was found in possession of the boat & the couple had disappeared. D did not give any explanation to the authorities about the couple or why he had their boat. The family previously made regular contact to their family & their possessions were still on the boat which supported the inference that they had died.
